What Travel Gear guides cover
Good gear disappears on a trip; bad gear is all you think about. This section covers the kit that earns its place in a bag: backpacks that pass airline sizers, layers that handle a ten-degree swing, and the small rules that keep packing light.
How we test Travel Gear advice
We measure before we recommend. Bags get weighed and fitted, layers get worn in cool mornings and warm afternoons. We favor repairable designs and plain materials over features that only look useful in a shop. If a product fails in real use, the guide says so.

Read the carry-on backpack picks and the layer system together; between them they cover most trips from a weekend to a fortnight.
